Velence Resort & Spa – Family Fun, Wellness, and Adventure by Lake Velence
Arrival at Lake Velence – The First Day
When we got out of the car, the air smelled fresh, like water and autumn mixed together. It was Halloween time, so there were pumpkins at the hotel entrance — some smiling, some scary. I immediately ran ahead while my parents were still taking the bags out of the car. I couldn’t wait to see what the inside looked like.
The lobby was huge. There was this big open space with comfy couches, plants, and sunlight shining through the tall glass walls. But what caught my attention right away was the dry slide. Yep — a real slide — inside the lobby! I couldn’t believe it. It was bright red, twisting down from the upper floor all the way to the ground level. I remember thinking, “Wait, this can’t be real… there’s a slide right in the middle of the hotel!”
While the adults were checking in at the reception, I was already planning my first slide down. There were other kids too, laughing and racing each other to the top. I joined them right away. That first slide was the best feeling ever — smooth, fast, and echoing with laughter. From that moment, I knew this wasn’t just a hotel. This was a playground disguised as a resort.
After we got our keycards — or rather, the cool wristband cards — we headed to our room. The wristbands could open the doors, and we even got to keep them later, which was awesome. I thought it was genius that you didn’t need to carry around a key, just wear it on your wrist.
When we entered our room, I couldn’t stop staring out the window. The Velence Lake stretched out in front of us, glittering under the light, and the hills in the distance made the view even more amazing. The room felt cozy — soft beds, warm colors, and a big balcony. I ran out to the balcony and just stood there for a minute, looking at the water.
Back inside, there was so much to explore — play areas, a game zone with Xbox consoles, and the “driving cabin,” which was basically a super-realistic car simulator. There were two of them side by side, and every kid wanted to take a turn. One of the cabins wasn’t working when we arrived, which was kind of a bummer, but the working one still kept us busy for ages.
When it started getting dark, the Halloween lights around the lobby began to glow — little orange pumpkins and spooky figures. Kids were running around in costumes, and there was music playing softly. It felt like a mix of cozy and exciting at the same time.
I went for one more slide before bed, racing two other kids I had just met — Noel and Marci. They were cousins, and about my age. We instantly clicked. We spent half the night talking about which slide was the fastest and what we’d try first thing in the morning.
That night, lying in bed, I couldn’t stop smiling. I had a feeling the next day was going to be even crazier — and I was right.
Wellness, Breakfast, Dinner, and New Friends
The next morning, I woke up early, even before the sun was fully up. I couldn’t wait to explore the wellness area. The hotel’s spa was huge — bigger than I expected. There were hot pools, a giant jacuzzi, steam rooms.
There were also cozy corners with loungers and soft towels. Some adults were reading books or napping, but we weren’t ready to relax yet — we had adventures to plan. The smell of the spa — like lavender and citrus — mixed with the fresh air from the lake, made it almost impossible to leave.
After hours in the water, it was time for breakfast. And wow… this was no ordinary breakfast. The buffet had everything: waffles, mini pancakes, chocolate rolls, cereals, fruits, yogurts, scrambled eggs, sausages. I think I went straight for the pancakes first, of course, smothered in syrup and chocolate chips.
Breakfast wasn’t just about food. The vibe in the restaurant was cheerful, with families chatting, laughter echoing, and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and hot chocolate filling the air. Sometimes a staff member would walk by with a tray of little surprises — chocolate croissants or fresh orange juice — and everyone’s morning instantly felt happier.
After breakfast, we went back to explore more of the hotel. This time, we focused on making more friends. Noel and Marci introduced me to a few other kids from different rooms. Soon, we formed a small group that spent the whole day playing on the slides, racing in the lobby, and inventing games. There was a little challenge we called “Slide Trick Challenge,” where each kid had to come up with a funny way to slide down. Some were silly, some were daring, and all of them ended in loud laughter.
We also discovered that the hotel sometimes arranged small games or evening activities. That night, there was a quiet bingo for kids in the lobby while adults had their own seating area. It was mostly fun to watch other kids cheer and laugh while we waited for our turn on the slides.
What made everything unforgettable, though, wasn’t just the food or the pools. It was the friendship. I never thought a hotel stay could make me feel so close to new friends in such a short time. Noel, Marci, and I shared so many moments — racing down slides, and comparing pancake strategies at breakfast. By the end of the day, it felt like we had known each other for months.
The day was packed with fun, laughter, and food, and I realized that this was what made a vacation truly special — the combination of amazing activities, cozy meals, and friends to share it with.
By the time I went to bed, the soft sounds of the lake outside and the faint giggles from other rooms reminded me that the Velence Resort & Spa was not just a hotel — it was a place where every day felt like a tiny adventure, full of surprises and joy.
Big Slides, Halloween Fun, and Farewell Day
The next morning, I woke up buzzing with excitement. Today was for the big slides — the ones everyone talked about as soon as we arrived. Noel, Marci, and I raced to the lobby, and there it was: the Meteorite and the Lightning. The Meteorite was huge — a shiny red slide that twisted and turned from the upper floor to the soft cushions below. The Lightning was even taller, a long blue slide with sharp turns, starting from the fourth floor and racing all the way down.
I tried the Meteorite first. Climbing the stairs felt like preparing for a secret mission. When I sat at the top, my heart raced. Then… zoom! I went down, twisting and spinning, the air whooshing past my ears. The soft landing cushions made it feel like floating on a cloud. Noel and Marci were right behind me, and we all laughed so hard, it echoed in the lobby. We went down the slide over and over, inventing little competitions: who could make the funniest scream, who could land the silliest, and even a race to see who reached the bottom first.
Then came the Lightning. This slide was insane! Every turn made my stomach flip, and for a moment, it felt like flying. The lobby was decorated with Halloween lights, and we even imagined the dark twists as plunges through space. I remember a brave girl sliding down headfirst, staring at us with wide eyes — it was both creepy and amazing. Noel whispered, “Okay… now I see why they call it Lightning.” We couldn’t stop laughing for the rest of the afternoon.
While the slides were our main adventure, the Halloween decorations made everything even more magical. The lobby had orange lights, pumpkins, and fake cobwebs. Staff wore witch hats, and there were mini games like pumpkin toss and “spooky bingo.” Sometimes, the sound of the lake outside mixed with Halloween music inside, making it feel like we were in a fun, mysterious movie.
After sliding and racing, it was time for a break — a perfect moment for snacks and cocktails (non-alcoholic, of course!). The bar made colorful drinks with funny names. I tried the “Safe Sex on the Beach” which made me giggle just saying it. Noel and Marci had their own favorites, and we all toasted with our little glasses before running back to the slides.
Dinner that night was a cozy celebration. Families laughed over plates of pasta, risotto, and grilled chicken. Desserts were decadent — tarts, and fruit platters.
Sadly, the farewell day arrived. I woke up early, wanting to soak in every last moment. Breakfast was just as amazing — fluffy pancakes, chocolate rolls, fresh fruits, and scrambled eggs. I savored every bite, knowing it was the last big breakfast at Velence Resort & Spa.
Before leaving, we walked one last time by the lake. The water reflected the morning sun, smooth and calm. I felt a quiet happiness — a mix of excitement from the slides, laughter with friends, and the peacefulness of the lake. It was hard to leave, but I knew I’d take all these memories with me.
At check-out, I expected to hand back my smart wristband, but the staff smiled and told me I could keep it as a souvenir. I hugged it like a tiny treasure. Now, every time I see it on my shelf, I remember the slides, the laughter, and my new friends.
